Wang Yi Meets with Miguel Ramirez Ramos, Cuban Ambassador to Leave
2019/10/30

On October 30, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Miguel Ramirez Ramos, the Cuban Ambassador to China who is to leave his post.

Wang Yi appreciated Miguel Ramirez Ramos' important contributions to the development of China-Cuba relations during his tenure. Wang Yi said, bilateral relations have been constantly deepened with in-depth and practical cooperation and constantly enhanced friendship between the two peoples. China and Cuba are comrades sharing common goals, friends who stand together through thick and thin, and partners sharing weal and woe. Next year is crucial for bilateral relations to inherit the past and usher in the future as it marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries' diplomatic relations. The two sides should seize the opportunity to plan high-level mutual visits between the two countries and exchanges at all levels to push cooperation in various fields to new stages. The Chinese side will, as always, support the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban government, support Cuba in following the socialist path, and support Cuba's struggle to safeguard sovereignty and national dignity and oppose hegemonism.

Miguel Ramirez Ramos thanked the Chinese side for its strong support during his term of office. He said, the unbreakable Cuba-China relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes. The Cuban side will take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to work with the Chinese side to well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and improve practical cooperation in various fields.
