Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef Meets the CPPCC Delegation

Egyptian Prime Minster Ahmed Nazef met Liu Yandong, vice chairwoman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and her delegateion in Cairo on October 11, 2004.

During the meeting, Nazef said Egyptian leaders pay a great deal of attention to the relations between the two countries, especially bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, technology, Tourism, education and culture. Egypt is willing to expand cooperation with China in all fields.

As Chinese technological products are becoming internationally competitive, technological cooperation between the two countries has great potential, said the prime minister.

He noted Egyptian companies signed Sunday 22 contracts worth 922 million US dollars with a business delegation from China's Guangdong Province, adding this built a good model for economic cooperation between Egypt and China.

Liu Yandong, for her part, said China and Egypt have enjoyed a long history of friendly relations ever since the two sides established diplomatic ties in 1956.

Liu and her delegation arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a four-day visit to Egypt.
