At the invitation of Egyptian Council of Foreign Affairs, a 6-member delegation from Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs headed by Ambassador Mei Zhaorong, Chairman of the Institute, paid a visit to Egypt from January 27 to February 2. Ambassador Mei held a talk with Ambassador Shaker, Chairman of the Egyptian Council of Foreign Affairs and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Exchanges and Cooperation between Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian Council of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Mei also delivered a speech "the Economic Development and Foreign Policy of China" at the Council.

During the visit, Ambassador Mei met with Deputy Prime Minister and General Secretary of National Democratic Party, H.E. Mr. Wali, Speaker of People’s Assembly, H.E. Mr. Sorour, State Minister of Environment, H.E. Mr. Riad, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Shalaby and Deputy Secretary-General of Arab League, H.E. Mr. Ismail.

Ambassador Mei also had a live interview with the Nile TV on China-Egypt relations and some international issues along with An Huihou, former Chinese Ambassador to the country and others from the delegation
