Chinese Delegation Participates 36th Cairo International Exhibition

The 36th Cairo International Exhibition concluded on 28th of March. About 3500 enterprises from more than 50 countries participated this exhibition.

Chinese delegation, consisting of 182 enterprises and 462 businessmen, was the largest in the exhibition with total exhibition space of 4000 square metres. The exhibits covered IT, household appliances, medical care, electronics and etc.. Some well known enterprises, such as ZTE, Huawei, Konka, Skyworth displayed their latest products. Shenzhen Municipal Government organized its own delegation with 286 members and an exclusive exhibition hall was designated. The Shenzhen hall was very impressive by the high quality and hi-tech products and novel design of booth. During the exhibition, lots of Egyptian businessmen visited China Hall, negotiated and signed contracts with the Chinese counterparts.

Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ebeid, Vice Prime Minister Dr. Waly, Secretary General of the Arab League Mr. Amr Moussa, ministers from seven Ministries, Chairman of the General Authority of Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and Governor of Cairo visited Shenzhen Hall as well.

During the exhibition, Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Egypt General Authority for Investment & Free Zones (GAFI) co-hosted "2003 Shenzhen-Cairo Investment Forum".


Egyptian Vice- Prime Minister Waly, Chairman of GAFI, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen delivered speeches in the forum. About 400 people participated the forum and exchanged views on how to develop special economic zones and how to improve the investment environment..

In the speech, Vice- Prime Minister Waly said that Egypt should absorb the successful experience from China’s opening up and reform policy and improve the investment environment further. He also spoke highly the Chinese government for assigning such a big delegation to attend the exhibition despite of the intense situation in Iraq.

Ambassador Liu Xiaoming said that Shenzhen city was a window of China’s opening up and reform policy, it accumulated valuable experience in boosting foreign investment and international co-operation, China and Egypt should learn from each other to promote the mutual development.

The Cairo International Exhibition is an annual event, and is the biggest one in the Middle East and North Africa areas.
