Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei Meets with Egyptian Foreign Minister Gheit

On November 2, 2007, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit on the sidelines of the expanded foreign ministerial meeting of Iraq's neighboring countries in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul. Both sides exchanged views on China-Egypt ties, as well as regional and international issues.

During the meeting, Wu spoke highly of Egypt's adherence to the one-China position and the friendly policy towards China, stressing that it is a set policy of the Chinese government to develop strategic cooperative relations with Egypt.

Hailing the smooth development of bilateral ties, Gheit said both sides have maintained close coordination and cooperation. Egypt looks at China with respect and admiration and hopes to strengthen friendly cooperation with China in all areas.
