Li Keqiang Meets with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali

On September 10, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met in Tianjin with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali, who was in China for the annual meeting of the Summer Davos Forum 2014.

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to President Keita. Li Keqiang said that China and Mali have always treated each other equally and offered mutual support. The friendship between the two countries becomes even firmer as time goes by. China supports Mali's efforts in facilitating national reconciliation and recovering and developing economy, and is willing to join hands with Mali in enhancing high-level contacts and people-to-people and cultural communication and expanding cooperation in such fields as agriculture, mining and infrastructure construction, and to sincerely help Mali improve self-development capacity. China is willing to continuously participate in peacekeeping operation in Mali and jointly open up a new situation for China-Mali relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Africa are friends and partners sharing weal and foe. Recently, Ebola epidemic has occurred in some West African countries. China is deeply worried about the situation of people in the epidemic-stricken areas, and has taken the lead in stepping into the breach by providing epidemic prevention materials in the first place and sending medical experts to the epidemic-stricken areas for assistance. We would like to fight side by side with West African countries, jointly making contributions to combating Ebola epidemic and to the cause of human health.

Keita asked Li Keqiang to convey his warm greetings to Xi Jinping, and said that China has always been a completely trustworthy and good friend to Mali and vast African countries. Mali is grateful to China for its valuable support to African countries in realizing peaceful and stable development and combating Ebola epidemic, and is willing to join hands with China promoting Mali-China and Africa-China relations for new results.

Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee Sun Chunlan, and Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Secretary General of the State Council Yang Jing attended the meeting.
