Premier Li Keqiang Meets with President Traian Basescu of Romania, Stressing to Promote China-Romania, China-CEE Cooperation from a Long-Term Perspective to Achieve Mutual Benefit, Win-Win Outcomes and Common Development

On the morning of 27 November 2013, local time, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at Presidential Office of Romania with President Traian Basescu of Romania.

Upon the arrival, Li Keqiang was warmly greeted by Basescu at the gate. Li Keqiang conveyed the sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping to President Basescu. He said that China and Romania enjoy profound traditional friendship and they have always supported each other on issues concerning core interests and major concerns. It has provided a solid foundation for the development of China-Romania relations. My current visit to Romania is aimed to consolidate traditional friendship and to push forward practical cooperation so as to ensure that China-Romania comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership will enjoy better development.

Li Keqiang expressed that the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee has made deployment on fully deepening reform. China continuing to promote reform and expand opening up will bring new opportunities for the development of China-Romania relations. China is ready to deepen practical cooperation with Romania in the fields of trade, investment and infrastructure, to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as non-governmental contacts and to strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs so as to expand common interests and to benefit both peoples.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the basic principle of China in advancing relations with CEE countries is equality, mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win outcomes and common development. It is conducive to stability and prosperity of CEE and will as well help Europe to better leverage the role as a major pole in the world. China is ready to work with CEE countries including Romania to boost cooperation with strategic thinking and from a long-term perspective, to achieve combination of justice and benefit and to promote each other so as to contribute to global peace and development.

Basescu asked Li Keqiang to convey his cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Romania and the CEEC-China Summit have been a full success and yielded fruitful outcomes. It will undoubtedly push bilateral relations and CEEC-China cooperation to enter a new stage of development. Romania and China enjoy traditional friendship and Romania will never forget support from China. Romania is a reliable friend and partner of China in the region and within the EU and is ready to expand cooperation with China in all fields so as to continue playing a positive role in promoting CEEC-China cooperation.

Following the meeting, Basescu saw off Li Keqiang to the gate of the Presidential Office and the leaders of the two countries bid farewell to each other.
