| Cairo International Film Festival Opens with Chinese Film |

The 29th Cairo International Film Festival opened on Nov.29. Some distinguished guests , including Egyptian minister of culture Farouk Hosni, festival president Sherif el-Shoubashi, vice president of China State Administration of Radio, Film and Television Tian Jin, and Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Sike, attended the opening ceremony.
The House of Flying Daggers,the opening film of this year's festival China was selected by the organizers as the Guest of Honor during this year's festival. The House of Flying Daggers , a Chinese martial arts film directed by Chinese director Zhang Yimou, became the first film viewed by the audience during this cultural event after the opening ceremony. This year's festival will be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 9 during which 140 films from 40 countries will be screened. Among them, 15 films from 15 countries entered the official competition for the Golden Pyramid.
Chinese delegation attends the opening ceremony 30 Chinese films to be screened during the festival include Zhang Yimou's Not One Less , Chen Kaige's Together, Zhang Yang's Shower and Feng Xiaogang's A Sigh. |
