Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming hosted a film reception at the embassy on November 3. Distinguished guests including Secretary-General of the Egyptian ruling National Democratic Party and Vice Premier Mr. Waly, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League Mr. Kemal, Vice Chairman of Egypt-China Friendship Association Mr. Ahmed Waly, Assisstant Foreign Ministers Mr. Galal and Mr. Serry and Advisor of the Minister of Planning International Cooperation Mr. Rajaee attended the reception, and some diplomatic envoys in Cairo were also present.

"The Road Home", a Chinese film that has won the 2000 Berlin Silver Bear Prize and participated in the 25th Cairo International Film Festival, was shown at the reception. Ambassador Liu delivered a speech before the show to introduce the story as well as earth-shaking changes that have taken place over time in China (Please refer to Transcript for detail). The film won unanimous appreciation from the guests, who spoke highly of the outstanding achievements of Chinese movie art as well as cultural development.
